Overview
Throughout Scripture, God calls His people by various titles reflecting their relationship to Him. The term 'saint' (Greek: hagios) means 'holy one' or 'set apart' and applies to all genuine believers in Christ, not merely the exceptionally pious. Believers are also called 'beloved,' 'chosen,' 'brothers,' and 'children of God,' emphasizing their identity in Christ and inheritance in His kingdom.
Key Scriptures
"And the Lord's hand was with them, and a great number who believed turned to the Lord" (Acts 5:14, ESV).
"Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word and conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12, NKJV).
"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 15:58, NKJV).
Application
Recognize your identity as God's saint through faith in Christ, and live accordingly by pursuing holiness and serving others in your local church community.
