Sickness

Sickness is a reality in our fallen world, yet God offers refuge, strength, and healing through faith in Him. Scripture teaches us to trust God's sovereignty over our bodies and to seek His comfort during times of physical affliction.

Overview

The Bible acknowledges that sickness afflicts all people as part of living in a sin-corrupted world. However, God's character remains constant: He is our refuge and strength during illness. We are called to trust in His care, seek His face, and maintain faith even when our bodies fail us.

Key Scriptures

"Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and my body with grief" (Psalm 31:9, NIV). "Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people" (Matthew 4:23, NIV). "Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life" (Psalm 31:7, ESV).

Application

When facing sickness, bring your suffering to God in prayer, trust His sovereign care over your body, and remember that He walks with us through physical affliction.
