Prophets

Prophets were called by God to speak His Word to His people, serving as messengers of divine truth, correction, and encouragement throughout biblical history. Their role was foundational to God's revelation before the completion of Scripture.

Overview

God appointed prophets as His spokespersons to communicate His will, announce judgment, and call people to repentance. From Moses to John the Baptist, prophets authenticated their message through miracles, fulfilled predictions, and alignment with God's Word. They confronted kings, comforted the afflicted, and preserved God's truth during spiritual decline.

Key Scriptures

"Then the LORD said to Moses, 'See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet'" (Exodus 7:1, ESV).

"In the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy" (Acts 2:17, ESV).

"Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son" (Hebrews 1:1-2, ESV).
