The Jewish people are God's chosen nation, called through Abraham to be a blessing to all nations and to receive God's promises of land and descendant. Understanding Israel's covenantal role is essential to biblical theology and God's redemptive plan.

Overview

God called Abraham and established an everlasting covenant with him and his descendants, the Jewish people. This covenant included promises of land, numerous offspring, and blessing to all nations through Abraham's seed. The prophets later revealed that Jerusalem and the house of Israel would be central to God's future kingdom purposes.

Key Scriptures

"And the Lord said to him, 'To your offspring I will give this land'" (Genesis 13:15, ESV).
