Visions

Visions are supernatural revelations where God communicates directly to His people through visual experiences, confirming His word and guiding His servants. Throughout Scripture, visions serve as a means of divine communication and validation of God's purposes.

Overview

Biblical visions are divine revelations granted by God to communicate His will, call servants to specific tasks, or confirm His word. These supernatural experiences appear throughout both Old and New Testaments as a legitimate means of God's communication. However, believers must test all visions against God's revealed Word in Scripture, as false prophets may claim visions that contradict biblical truth.

Key Scriptures

"In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up" (Isaiah 6:1, ESV). "And an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense" (Luke 1:11, ESV). "And Peter said, 'I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision' " (Acts 10:10, ESV). "The word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: 'Fear not, Abram, I am your shield'" (Genesis 15:1, ESV).

Application

Always evaluate claimed visions by Scripture's standard, seeking confirmation through God's Word and the counsel of mature believers in your church.
