Judgments

God's judgments are real, swift, and demonstrate His holiness when His commands are violated. Scripture shows both immediate divine discipline and the consequences of rejecting God's authority.

Overview

The Bible reveals that God actively judges sin and disobedience. From individual acts of deception to national rebellion, God's judgments serve to uphold His holiness, demonstrate His authority, and call His people to repentance. These judgments are not arbitrary but flow from God's righteous character and established commands.

Key Scriptures

"But Peter said, 'Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.' When Ananias heard these words, he fell down and breathed his last" (Acts 5:3–5, ESV).

"If you will not obey the voice of the Lord your God...the Lord will send on you curses, confusion, and frustration in all that you undertake to do" (Deuteronomy 28:15, ESV).

Application

Recognizing God's righteous judgment should motivate believers to pursue honesty, obedience, and reverence for Him in all aspects of life.
