Peace

Biblical peace encompasses both relational harmony with others and inner tranquility that comes from trusting God. Scripture emphasizes pursuing peace as a spiritual discipline and recognizing that true peace is absent apart from God.

Overview

Peace in Scripture refers to reconciliation, harmony, and the absence of conflict between people, as well as the deep spiritual rest that comes from a right relationship with God. While earthly peace is valuable and worth pursuing, the Bible makes clear that ultimate peace flows from God alone and cannot exist for those who reject Him.

Key Scriptures

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God" (Matthew 5:9, ESV). "If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all men" (Romans 12:18, NASB). "Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14, NKJV). "There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked" (Isaiah 48:22, ESV).

Application

Actively work to resolve conflicts and live at peace with others whenever possible, while recognizing that your deepest peace comes through faith in Christ rather than circumstances.
