Overview
Naphtali was the sixth son of Jacob, born to Bilhah, Rachel's servant (Genesis 30:7-8). The tribe settled in the fertile northern region of Canaan, with boundaries extending from the Sea of Galilee westward (Joshua 19:32-39). Naphtali was positioned in the second rank of the tribal camp during Israel's wilderness journey (Numbers 2:25, 29).
Key Scriptures
"Then Deborah said to Barak, 'Up! For this is the day in which the LORD has given Sisera into your hand. Does not the LORD go out before you?' So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with 10,000 men in his train. And the LORD routed Sisera" (Judges 4:14, ESV). "The Canaanites lived among them, but became subject to forced labor" (Judges 1:33, NIV).
Application
Naphtali's history reminds us that God works through ordinary tribes and faithful leaders to accomplish His purposes, calling believers today to respond obediently when He directs us into spiritual service.
