Seed

Seeds represent both the physical means of reproduction in creation and a powerful spiritual metaphor for sowing God's Word and reaping spiritual consequences.

Overview

Scripture uses seeds to describe God's creative design for all plant life and as a central metaphor for spiritual sowing and harvest. From Genesis, God ordained that plants would reproduce after their kind through seeds. The principle extends to the spiritual realm, where believers sow seeds through their words, actions, and investments, with guaranteed corresponding harvests.

Key Scriptures

"Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days" (Ecclesiastes 11:6, ESV). "The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously" (2 Corinthians 9:6, NIV). "But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body" (1 Corinthians 15:38, ESV). "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows" (Galatians 6:7, NIV).

Application

Examine what you are sowing spiritually through your words, priorities, and generosity, knowing that your harvest will reflect your investment.
