Jehiah

Jehiah was a gatekeeper in the tabernacle during King David's reign, responsible for guarding the entrance and maintaining order in God's house. His faithful service exemplifies the importance of diligence in stewarding positions of responsibility.

Overview

Jehiah served as one of the gatekeepers of the tabernacle during David's time, entrusted with the critical responsibility of controlling access to God's sanctuary. Though mentioned briefly in Scripture, his role reminds us that faithful service in seemingly small positions is vital to the proper functioning of God's work.

Key Scriptures

"And Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, eighteen in all" (1 Chronicles 26:9, NASB). "Hosah, one of the descendants of Merari, had sons: Shimri the first (for though he was not the firstborn, his father made him first), Hilkiah the second, Tabaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth. All the sons and relatives of Hosah were thirteen. To these divisions of the gatekeepers, according to their chief men, were given duties to serve in the house of the LORD" (1 Chronicles 26:10-12, NASB).

Application

Consider how you can serve faithfully in your current role, recognizing that all work done unto the Lord—whether prominent or hidden—holds eternal significance.
