Overview
Jesus began His ministry by preaching the gospel of the kingdom, calling people to repent and believe (Mark 1:14-15). Preaching involves public proclamation of God's Word, whether in synagogues, on mountains, or from boats. The early apostles continued this pattern, reasoning from Scripture about Christ and boldly declaring the gospel message to all who would listen.
Key Scriptures
"Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, 'The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.'" (Mark 1:14-15, ESV)
"He began to teach by the seaside. And a very large crowd gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea; and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land." (Mark 4:1, ESV)
"Peter and the apostles answered, 'We must obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised Jesus whom you killed by hanging him on a tree.'" (Acts 5:29-30, ESV)
Application
Faithful preaching requires confidence in God's Word and willingness to proclaim Christ's message boldly, whatever the circumstances or opposition.
