Sun

The sun is God's creation, appointed to govern day and night, and serves as a testimony to God's power and glory. In eternity, God's presence will replace the sun's light.

Overview

God created the sun on the fourth day to rule over the day and separate light from darkness. The sun demonstrates God's sovereignty over creation and His faithfulness in maintaining the natural order. Scripture reveals that one day, in the new heavens and new earth, God's glory will supersede the sun's light entirely.

Key Scriptures

"And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars" (Genesis 1:16, ESV).

"The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims the work of his hands" (Psalm 19:1, ESV).

"And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb" (Revelation 21:23, ESV).

Application

Reflect on how God's creation of the sun reveals His power and order, and anticipate the day when His presence will be our perfect light.
