Overview
Throughout Scripture, signs authenticate God's message and messengers. Jesus performed signs to reveal His identity and glory, yet He also warned against a sign-seeking generation that demands proof rather than exercising faith. Signs confirm God's word but should never replace genuine belief.
Key Scriptures
"A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah" (Matthew 12:38, NIV). "Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God" (John 20:30-31, NIV). "For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect" (Matthew 24:24, NIV).
Application
Rather than demanding signs before believing, trust in God's revealed word in Scripture and the ultimate sign of Christ's resurrection as sufficient evidence for faith.
