Secret

Secrets reveal the hidden thoughts and motives of our hearts, which are fully known to God alone. Scripture teaches that what we do in secret will be revealed, and that God sees and judges the intentions of all people.

Overview

The Bible presents secrets as matters hidden from human knowledge but fully transparent before God. While we are called to discretion in certain matters, no secret escapes God's omniscience. He knows our thoughts, motivations, and deeds done in darkness, and these will ultimately be brought to light.

Key Scriptures

"But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." (Matthew 6:4, NIV)

"For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light." (Luke 8:17, NASB)

"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12, NIV)

Application

Live with integrity, remembering that God sees all hidden things and will one day reveal what is done in secret.
