Oppression

Oppression is the unjust exercise of authority or power over the vulnerable, which God explicitly condemns and promises to judge. Scripture calls believers to defend the oppressed and seek justice as an expression of God's character.

Overview

The Bible presents oppression as a serious sin against God's character and His concern for the vulnerable. From the psalms to the prophets, Scripture reveals that God hears the cry of the oppressed and stands as their defender. Oppressors—whether through exploitation, abuse of power, or denial of justice—face God's judgment, while believers are called to advocate for the helpless.
