Rulers

Biblical rulers are called to govern with justice, wisdom, and fear of God, serving as His representatives to establish righteousness and protect their people.

Overview

Scripture establishes that civil rulers are ordained by God and bear responsibility to administer justice fairly, appoint capable leaders, and refuse bribes. Rulers are exhorted to seek God's wisdom and recognize their accountability before Him, ruling in a way that reflects divine principles of equity and compassion.

Key Scriptures

"You shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders" (Exodus 18:21, NASB).

"The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me: 'When one rules over people in righteousness, When one rules in the fear of God, He is as the light of the morning when the sun rises, A morning without clouds'" (2 Samuel 23:3-4, NASB).

"Give the king Your judgments, O God, And Your righteousness to the king's son. He will judge Your people with righteousness And Your afflicted with justice" (Psalm 72:1-2, NASB).

Application

Pray for leaders to govern with integrity and fear of God, and support policies that advance justice and protect the vulnerable.
