Azzan

The father of Paltiel, a tribal prince of Issachar who was appointed by Moses to help divide the Promised Land among the tribes.

Azzan is only mentioned once in Scripture, as the father of Paltiel. When the Israelites prepared to enter Canaan, God commanded Eleazar the priest, Joshua, and one prince from each tribe to oversee the distribution of the land. Paltiel, son of Azzan, represented the tribe of Issachar. Nothing else is recorded about Azzan personally. His name means "very strong" or "sharp."
