Resurrection

Resurrection is God's power to raise the dead to eternal life, supremely demonstrated in Christ's resurrection and promised to all believers. This foundational doctrine assures Christians of victory over death and the hope of eternal life.

Overview

The resurrection affirms that death is not final. Christ's resurrection (Romans 6:4) is the firstfruits of God's power over death, and believers are united with Him in resurrection (Ephesians 2:5-6). The Old Testament saints anticipated this hope, knowing their Redeemer lives (Job 19:25-27), and confident that God would call them from death (Job 14:14-15).

Key Scriptures

"But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ" (Ephesians 2:4-5, ESV).

"If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God" (Colossians 3:1, ESV).

"For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth" (Job 19:25, ESV).

Application

Live daily in the reality of your resurrection with Christ, letting the hope of eternal life transform how you respond to present struggles and temptations.
