Overview
Throughout Scripture, wind represents God's power and authority over creation. The wind can scatter the wicked like chaff, symbolize empty human labor, and demonstrate divine judgment. Yet wind also refreshes and sustains, reminding believers of God's constant provision and sovereign care over all things.
Key Scriptures
"The wicked are like the chaff which the wind drives away" (Psalm 1:4, NASB). "Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless. As goods increase, so do those who consume them. And what benefit are they to the owners except to feast their eyes on them?" (Ecclesiastes 5:10-11, but see Hosea 8:7: "They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind," NIV). "He stilled the wind, and it became perfectly calm" (Matthew 14:32, NASB).
Application
Trust in God's sovereignty over life's circumstances, recognizing that human plans apart from Him are as futile as chasing the wind.
