Purity

35 scripture references — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Purity in Scripture refers to freedom from sin and contamination, both morally and spiritually. God desires His people to be cleansed from iniquity and set apart for holy purposes. True purity flows from a transformed heart and manifests in righteous living and separation from evil.

Key Scriptures

"Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart" (Psalm 24:3-4, NIV). "For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!" (Hebrews 9:13-14, NIV). "Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the Master of the house, ready for every good work" (2 Timothy 2:21, ESV).

Application

Pursue purity by fleeing youthful passions, guarding your thoughts and heart, and relying on Christ's blood for continual spiritual cleansing.
