Meditation

42 scripture references across 2 subtopics — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Biblical meditation is the practice of deliberately contemplating God's Word, character, and works. Unlike Eastern meditation that seeks to empty the mind, Christian meditation fills the mind with Scripture and truth about God. This discipline deepens our relationship with the Lord and guards our hearts against worldly distractions.

Key Scriptures

"My soul shall be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth shall praise you with joyful lips" (Psalm 63:5, ESV). "When I remember you upon my bed, I meditate on you in the watches of the night" (Psalm 63:6, ESV). "Surely you set them in slippery places; you make them fall to ruin" (Psalm 73:18, ESV). The psalmist demonstrates how meditation on God's justice and faithfulness brings clarity and spiritual understanding.

Application

Set aside time daily to meditate on Scripture passages, allowing God's Word to transform your thinking and draw you closer to Him in worship.
