Robbery

Robbery is the unlawful taking of another's property and is condemned throughout Scripture as a violation of God's law and a sin against both God and our neighbor.

Overview

The Bible consistently addresses robbery as theft and a breach of God's commandment to honor others' possessions. Whether through violent force or deception, robbery violates the principle of loving one's neighbor and reflects a heart turned away from God's righteousness. Scripture emphasizes both the sin of committing robbery and the call to restitution and repentance.

Key Scriptures

"You shall not oppress your neighbor or rob him" (Leviticus 19:13, ESV). "The Lord loves justice and hates robbery and wrongdoing" (Isaiah 61:8, NIV). "If a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die" (Ezekiel 18:21, NIV).

Application

As believers, we must reject dishonesty and theft in all forms, pursuing integrity in our dealings while extending grace to those seeking repentance and restoration.
