Silas

Silas was a faithful companion of the Apostle Paul who traveled with him on missionary journeys and faced persecution for proclaiming the gospel. He served as a trusted coworker in establishing churches and strengthening believers throughout the Mediterranean world.

Overview

Silas (also called Silvanus) was a leading member of the Jerusalem church who joined Paul on his second missionary journey after the Jerusalem Council. He traveled extensively with Paul, enduring hardship, imprisonment, and opposition while planting churches and encouraging new believers in Christ.

"And Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended by the brothers to the grace of the Lord. And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches." (Acts 15:40-41, ESV)
