Azmaveth

The name of several biblical figures, including one of David's mighty warriors, a descendant of Saul, and the treasurer under King David.

The most notable Azmaveth (also called Jeshishai) was a Benjamite who served as one of David's "thirty mighty men," known for his skill in battle. Another Azmaveth served as David's treasurer over the storehouses of oil, wine, and other goods. A third Azmaveth was a descendant of Saul through Jonathan. Several locations also bore this name, including a town in Benjamin where some Benjamites settled after the exile.
