Wolf, the

16 scripture references across 10 subtopics — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Wolves appear throughout Scripture as symbols of danger and deception. Jesus warned His disciples about false prophets and leaders who appear harmless but attack the vulnerable. Paul similarly cautioned the Ephesian elders about wolves entering the flock. Yet wolves also represent the boldness and vigilance God's people must possess when sent as witnesses into a hostile world.

Key Scriptures

"Jesus said, 'Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves'" (Matthew 7:15, ESV).

"I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves" (Matthew 10:16, NASB).

"I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock" (Acts 20:29, ESV).

Application

Discern spiritual threats by testing teaching against God's Word while maintaining Christ-like gentleness in your witness to others.
