Beor

The father of Balaam the prophet, mentioned as "Beor of Pethor" in the Old Testament and possibly referenced in New Testament writings.

Beor is almost exclusively known as the father of Balaam. In the biblical account, Balaam is consistently identified as "son of Beor." Several church fathers and some translations suggest that "Beor" may also be the name of Balaam's homeland or a title. In some extrabiblical texts (Deir Alla inscription), Balaam son of Beor appears as a non-Israelite seer, confirming the historical existence of both figures. Beor himself has no recorded actions or spoken words.
