The Divine Title of Christ
The term "Alpha" appears in the book of Revelation as a profound declaration of Jesus Christ's divine nature and eternal existence. In Revelation 1:8, we read: "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." This powerful statement establishes Christ's identity as the eternal God who exists outside of time and space.
Alpha, being the first letter of the Greek alphabet, symbolizes the absolute beginning of all things. When Jesus identifies Himself as the Alpha, He is claiming to be the source and origin of all creation. This declaration places Jesus in the position of ultimate authority over all of history and creation. As the Alpha, He is not merely present at creation's beginning—He is the active agent and source of all that exists. Nothing precedes Him, nothing exists apart from His will, and nothing can challenge His sovereign rule. This truth provides believers with unshakeable confidence in Christ's ability to work all things according to His perfect plan.

When we face uncertainty, suffering, or confusion, we can rest in the knowledge that our Savior is the eternal beginning of all things. Because He is the Alpha—the eternal God—His sacrifice for our sins has infinite value and His promises to us are absolutely reliable.
