Belshazzar

The last king of Babylon who saw the writing on the wall during a drunken feast, interpreted by Daniel as the prophecy of Babylon's fall.

Belshazzar was (according to historical records) the coregent son of Nabonidus. During a great feast using gold vessels looted from Jerusalem's Temple, a disembodied hand wrote on the wall. Terrified, Belshazzar promised Daniel the position of third ruler to interpret it. Daniel read: "MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN" — God had numbered the kingdom, weighed the king, and divided it. That very night, Belshazzar was killed and Darius the Mede took the kingdom.
