Overview
Succoth (meaning "booths" or "tents") was the initial encampment of Israel following their departure from Egypt. Located at the edge of the wilderness, it marked the beginning of their journey toward the Promised Land and demonstrated God's immediate provision and guidance for His people.
Key Scriptures
"The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Succoth" (Exodus 12:37, NIV). "After leaving Succoth, the Israelites came to Etham on the edge of the desert" (Exodus 13:20, NIV). "They left Succoth and camped at Etham, on the edge of the desert" (Numbers 33:6, NASB). "They traveled from Rameses to Succoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children" (Exodus 12:37, ESV).
Application
Succoth reminds believers that God's deliverance often begins with a first step of faith, and even the earliest stages of following Christ's call deserve recognition and gratitude for His faithful guidance.
