Solomon's Porch

Solomon's Porch was a covered colonnade on the east side of the Jerusalem temple where Jesus and the apostles taught and healed. It served as an important gathering place for believers in the early church.

Overview

Solomon's Porch (also called Solomon's Portico) was an architectural feature of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, located on the eastern side of the temple complex. This covered walkway became a significant location for apostolic ministry and teaching in the early church, providing shelter while allowing large crowds to gather and hear the gospel message.

Key Scriptures

"Jesus was in the temple, in the portico of Solomon" (John 10:23, ESV). "And as the lame man who was healed clung to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the portico called Solomon's Portico, utterly astounded" (Acts 3:11, ESV). "And more than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, so that they even carried out the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mats, that as Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on some of them" (Acts 5:12, ESV).

Application

Consider how God uses physical spaces and circumstances to advance His kingdom and how we can be ready to share the gospel wherever opportunity opens.
