Shaul

Shaul was a son of Simeon and grandson of Jacob, representing one of the tribal families of Israel during the wilderness period and settlement of Canaan.

Overview

Shaul appears in the genealogical records of Scripture as a son of Simeon (Genesis 46:10; Exodus 6:15). He is listed among Jacob's descendants who entered Egypt during the famine, and his family line is tracked through the wilderness wanderings and into the Promised Land. The Shaulites became a distinct clan within the tribe of Simeon (Numbers 26:13; 1 Chronicles 4:24).
