Overview
Sennacherib, king of Assyria, invaded Judah during King Hezekiah's reign and sent his military commander to demand Jerusalem's surrender. Through his messengers, Sennacherib mocked the God of Israel and boasted of Assyria's military superiority. However, God heard Hezekiah's prayer and intervened supernaturally, destroying Sennacherib's army in a single night and forcing him to retreat to his homeland in shame.
