Tree

Trees in Scripture symbolize life, growth, and God's provision, while also representing the consequences of disobedience and the hope of redemption through Christ.

Overview

Trees appear throughout Scripture as symbols of spiritual vitality and divine judgment. From the Garden of Eden's Tree of Life and Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil to the righteous person "like a tree planted by streams of water" (Psalm 1:3), trees illustrate both blessing and warning. They represent our dependence on God's provision and the reality of sin's consequences.

Key Scriptures

"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither." (Psalm 1:1-3, ESV)

"Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by its gates." (Revelation 22:14, ESV)

Application

Evaluate your spiritual growth by examining whether you're planted in God's Word like a flourishing tree, bearing fruit through obedience rather than withering through disobedience.
