Pharosh

Pharosh was a family head whose descendants returned from Babylonian exile and helped rebuild Jerusalem. His lineage is documented among those who returned under Zerubbabel and later under Ezra.

Overview

Pharosh (also spelled Parosh) was the patriarch of a significant Jewish family during the post-exilic period. His descendants were among the first to return from Babylonian captivity to Jerusalem, demonstrating God's faithfulness in restoration. The family remained prominent in the rebuilding efforts and religious reforms of the returned community.

"The children of Parosh, two thousand one hundred seventy-two" (Ezra 2:3, NASB).

"Of the sons of Parosh, Eliezer" (Ezra 8:3, NASB) was among those who returned with Ezra.
