Officer, Civil

Civil officers in biblical government served in administrative, military, and judicial capacities under kings, managing the kingdom's affairs and executing royal authority. Scripture reveals their roles, responsibilities, and the importance of wise leadership in civil service.

Overview

Throughout Scripture, civil officers held positions of significant responsibility in maintaining order and executing the king's will. David and Solomon both maintained organized administrations with officers overseeing military forces, treasuries, and various governmental functions. These positions required both competence and integrity.
