Overview
Mice appear in Scripture primarily in two contexts: as ceremonially unclean animals under the Old Testament dietary laws, and as instruments of God's judgment. The Bible's references to mice demonstrate God's attention to detail in His creation and His power to use even small creatures to accomplish His purposes.
Key Scriptures
"These are unclean to you among the swarming things that swarm on the ground: the mole rat, the mouse, and the great lizard according to its kind" (Leviticus 11:29, ESV).
"The Philistines sent a guilt offering to the LORD: five golden tumors and five golden mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines" (1 Samuel 6:4, ESV).
"And the number of the golden mice was equal to the number of Philistine cities belonging to the five lords, both fortified cities and unwalled villages" (1 Samuel 6:18, ESV).
Application
Recognize God's sovereign control over all circumstances and trust His judgment, even when He uses unexpected means to accomplish His will.
