Eleazer

Eleazar was a faithful Levite who guarded the ark of the covenant, and also one of David's mighty men known for his exceptional valor in battle.

Overview

Eleazar appears in Scripture as a man of significant responsibility and courage. He served as a guardian of the ark of the covenant at Kiriath-jearim, maintaining its safekeeping during a critical period in Israel's history. He is also remembered as one of David's Three, the most elite of his mighty warriors, distinguished by remarkable feats of strength and faithfulness in combat.

"And they brought the ark of the LORD and set it in the house of Abinadab on the hill. And they consecrated Eleazar his son to have charge of the ark of the LORD" (1 Samuel 7:1, ESV).
