Ehud

Ehud's return to retrieve his sword from Eglon represents a pivotal moment of divine deliverance, demonstrating God's use of unexpected means to free His people from oppression.

Overview

After assassinating King Eglon of Moab, Ehud the judge strategically returns to retrieve his sword, which he had left embedded in the king's body. This act of returning completes his mission and allows him to rally the Israelites to fight against Moab's remaining forces. God used Ehud's courage and cunning to deliver Israel from eighteen years of Moabite oppression.

Key Scriptures

"Then Ehud reached with his left hand, drew the sword from his right thigh and plunged it into the king's belly" (Judges 3:21, NIV). "After he left, the servants came and found the doors of the upper room locked. They said, 'He must be relieving himself in the inner room of the house'" (Judges 3:24, NIV). "Ehud then led out the Israelites from the hills, with himself in the lead. They went down after him, took possession of the fords of the Jordan that led to Moab, and allowed no one to cross over" (Judges 3:27-28, NIV).
