Who Were the Arkites?
The Arkites appear in Scripture as one of the Canaanite nations descended from Canaan, the son of Ham (Genesis 10:17). Their founder, Arki, is listed among Canaan's eleven sons, positioning the Arkites within the broader family of pre-Israelite inhabitants of Canaan. While they receive limited mention in the biblical text, their presence reminds us that God's people entered a land already populated by various ethnic groups, each with their own settlements and cultures. The Arkites likely established themselves in the northern regions of Canaan, though their exact territories remain somewhat obscure in historical records.
