Overview
Scripture presents queens in various roles: some as consorts to kings, others as powerful rulers. Queen Vashti refused the king's command (Esther 1:11-12), leading to her removal. Queen Esther rose to prominence and used her position to save her people from destruction. The Ethiopian queen's eunuch sought understanding of Scripture (Acts 8:27). These accounts show how God works through those in positions of authority.
Key Scriptures
"Queen Vashti also gave a banquet for the women in the royal house which belonged to King Ahasuerus" (Esther 1:11, NASB). "When they reported her words to the king and the princes, the king became very angry, for his wrath burned within him" (Esther 1:12, NASB). "Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, 'Get up and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza'...And behold, there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians" (Acts 8:26-27, NASB).
Application
Believers in positions of influence should seek God's wisdom and use their authority to honor Him and serve others.
