Parshandatha

1 scripture reference — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Parshandatha was the firstborn son of Haman the Agagite, who had plotted the genocide of all Jews in the Persian Empire. When King Ahasuerus discovered Haman's conspiracy against Queen Esther and her people, divine providence intervened to reverse the edict of destruction. The Jews were granted the right to defend themselves, and Parshandatha along with his nine brothers were killed during the conflict.

Key Scriptures

"The sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, were hanged: Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha" (Esther 9:7, KJV).

"So the Jews defeated all the enemies with the stroke of the sword, with slaughter and destruction, and did as they pleased to those who hated them" (Esther 9:5, ESV).

Application

Parshandatha's fate illustrates how God sovereignly protects His covenant people and judges those who seek to destroy them, encouraging believers to trust in God's providential care.
