Olympas

1 scripture reference — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Olympas is mentioned only once in Scripture as a believer in Rome whom Paul affectionately greets. Though little is known about him personally, his inclusion in Paul's greetings demonstrates the apostle's care for individual church members and the importance of personal relationships in the early church community.

Key Scriptures

"Greet Olympas and all the saints who are with him" (Romans 16:15, ESV).

"Now I urge you, brethren, note those who create dissensions and obstacles contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and turn away from them. For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting" (Romans 16:17-18, NASB).

Application

Like Olympas, believers today are part of a larger family of faith; remember that faithful saints deserve recognition and encouragement for their commitment to Christ and His church.
