Overview

Mishael appears in Scripture as a faithful Levite committed to serving God and His people. He was part of the priestly line and participated in important moments of spiritual renewal in Israel's history.

Key Scriptures

"The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. And the sons of Aaron: Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar" (Exodus 6:23, ESV). Mishael was the son of Uzziel and a cousin of Aaron. "And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, 'Come near; carry your brothers away from the front of the sanctuary and out of the camp'" (Leviticus 10:4, ESV). In the return from exile, "Mishael, Malchijah, Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam stood on the left side" as Ezra read the Law to the people (Nehemiah 8:4, ESV).

Application

Mishael's faithful service—from tabernacle duties to supporting the restoration of God's Word—challenges us to consistently serve the Lord and support the proclamation of Scripture in our communities.
