Michal

26 scripture references across 5 subtopics — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Michal, Saul's younger daughter, became David's wife through a covenant of love (1 Samuel 18:20). Though she initially helped David flee Saul's persecution by deceiving her father (1 Samuel 19:11-12), their marriage later fractured due to spiritual and relational conflict. After David took her back from Paltiel (2 Samuel 3:14-16), Michal despised David in her heart when he worshiped God with uninhibited joy, resulting in her remaining childless (2 Samuel 6:16, 23).

Key Scriptures

"Saul's daughter Michal loved David. And they told Saul, and the thing pleased him" (1 Samuel 18:20, ESV).

"Michal took an image and laid it on the bed and put a pillow of goats' hair at its head and covered it with the clothes" (1 Samuel 19:13, ESV).

"Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death" (2 Samuel 6:23, ESV).

Application

Guard your heart against bitterness and spiritual pride, remembering that unforgiveness and contempt for others' worship separates us from God's blessing.
