Overview
Kartah (also spelled Cartha) was one of the cities designated for the Levites, specifically given to the family of Merari within the tribe of Zebulun. As a Levitical city, it served as a residence for the priests and Levites who were set apart for ministry and worship according to God's design for Israel.
Key Scriptures
"And out of the tribe of Zebulun: Jokneam with its pasture lands and Kartah with its pasture lands" (1 Chronicles 6:73, ESV).
"And their territory was from Heleph, from the oak in Zaanannim, and Adami-nekeb, and Jabneel, as far as Lakkum, and it ended at the Jordan" (Joshua 19:33, ESV)—describing the broader allocation of cities in Zebulun's region.
Application
Kartah reminds believers that God provides specific places and purposes for those dedicated to His service, encouraging us to faithfully occupy whatever sphere of ministry He has assigned to us.
