Overview

The Jubilee Year, celebrated every fifty years after seven cycles of seven years, was a time of radical restoration in Israel. During this year, Hebrew slaves were released, debts were cancelled, and ancestral land returned to its original families. This institution demonstrated God's concern for the poor and vulnerable, preventing permanent poverty or landlessness among His people.
