Zabdiel

Zabdiel was a leader in ancient Israel who served as a military commander and later as an overseer of priests in Jerusalem during the post-exilic period.

Overview

Zabdiel appears in the biblical record as a faithful servant in two significant roles during Israel's history. First, he served as a military commander under King David's administration. Later, during the restoration of Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile, he held a position of leadership among the priests, helping to rebuild the spiritual life of the community.

Key Scriptures

"Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel was over the first division of the first month" (1 Chronicles 27:2, ESV).

"And Zabdiel the son of Haggedolim was over the priests" (Nehemiah 11:14, ESV).

Application

Zabdiel's example reminds believers that faithful service in both civic and spiritual leadership honors God and strengthens the community of faith.
