Neighbor

Scripture calls believers to love and serve their neighbors through practical acts of kindness, honesty, and restoration. This obligation extends to both personal relationships and community responsibility.

Overview

The biblical concept of neighbor encompasses those around us whom God calls us to love and serve sacrificially. From the Old Testament law to Jesus's teaching, believers are instructed to actively help neighbors in need, return lost property, speak truthfully, and resolve conflicts justfully. This reflects God's character and demonstrates genuine faith.

Key Scriptures

"You shall love your neighbor as yourself" (Leviticus 19:18, ESV). "If you meet your enemy's ox or his donkey going astray, you shall bring it back to him" (Exodus 23:4, ESV). "You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people" (Leviticus 19:16, ESV). "Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill? He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart" (Psalm 15:1–2, ESV).

Application

Demonstrate Christian love by actively helping those around you—returning lost belongings, assisting with burdens, speaking truthfully, and addressing wrongs with justice and restoration.
