Overview
Fish were created on the fifth day of creation and given to humanity as food. Scripture establishes clear dietary laws regarding which fish are permissible to eat, and fish feature prominently in Jesus's ministry as both a source of provision and symbols of spiritual truth.

"Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens" (Genesis 1:20, ESV). "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything" (Genesis 9:3, ESV). After His resurrection, Jesus asked His disciples, "Children, do you have any fish?"
