The son of Herod Agrippa I, he ruled over territories northeast of Judea. Alongside the Roman governor Festus, Agrippa listened to Paul’s defense. Paul recounted his conversion on the road to Damascus and his call to preach to the Gentiles. Festus interrupted, calling Paul mad. Paul replied, “I am not mad, most noble Festus,” and turned to Agrippa: “King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets?” Agrippa famously replied, “Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.”
